Sun and Moon Pyramid, going out in Mexico City

So we arrive at a really weird bus terminal in Mexico City. Well actually, there is no terminal at all, just a few buses stand on the side of a street, doesn't looking very safe. Anyhow Ricardo and I make our way to the metro.

Down at the metro station we let the first 4 or 5 subways pass, because there is no way we could fit in there. We are glad, as one arrives, where we can stuff our back bags and our selves inside. ;)

We take the metro to Bellas Artes. As we walk around the place, I take my first picture of the day.

So we buy us a coffee and check in into the hotel. As always this is complicated. We already booked and payed for the rooms via internet, but they don't know anything about it, so we get out our laptops and show them our bookings...

I'm glad to have a nice room and tons of sleep, well at least for once... ;) So little did I know at that time...

After resting a bit, we head to the Bellas Artes again to meet with Paola, a friend of Ricardo. Hehe, the Mexican minutes come into account and advance to 1 1/2 hours of waiting. Well, the traffic was really bad too...

The Torre Latinoamericana is right at the corner of the square, where I got some shade. ;)

Before we head to the pyramids...

As we have a guide now, it is very easy to get to the pyramids. ;)

The pyramid of the sun is the 3rd largest pyramid in the world with a hight of about 65 - 71m. All sources I found state something different. And compared to many other pyramids, this one is in really in good shape. Oh I almost forgot to mention, it was originally build by the Maya, but abounded and later settled by the Aztecs. The city name is Teotihuacan, which means "the place were gods are born". The name used by the Maya is unknown.
Haha, and the pyramids has 5 leves now, originally it only had 4, they made a mistake when reconstructing... Well, the Mayas liked to redo or extend their pyramids, to make them bigger and bigger.
Well, I'm talking too much, lets have a look at the pics... I bet most of the people reading this blog are actually skipping this paragraph anyway... As many told me they are viewers not readers.... Haha as many would expect of me... Well, I only read something, if it is interesting... :D So now really enough the talk...

So there comes my most favorite pyramid in Mexico.

The best is, you can walk up all the way to the top. There used to be an altar form the Actecs, but it does not exist any more.

From the top of the pyramid you can see the pyramid of the moon.

Next stop, the pyramid of the moon. At other sites, the pyramids on the side would already be something to see, here it just adds to the flair... ;)

I have not figured out yet, but in the middle of a plaza in front of an pyramid, they always have a podium or stage.... Usually the acoustic there would be really good, as the Mayas took a lot of effort into that, but not here...

Haha, we made some really silly pics here, there, well everywhere...  Not sure if I should make them that public on a blog like that though... :D

The view from the moon pyramid, 1st level is amazing...

Do you see the path to the sun pyramid. You can also walk straight past it, about the same length, there you will get to the Cuidadela. The temple/palace there is really interesting. We did not go there, but if you are interested in Mayas, read about it. But do not bother reading the English version of Wikipedia, as it is really bad... Read the Spanish or German version, if you speak either one of the languages.

So we head back to the bus...

As Andrea, one of Paolas friends is already waiting at the bar, we decide to do the city tour tomorrow morning...

So we make our way back to the hotel to get ready for going out.

A trip with the taxi later we are at the bar. We start our night with drinks and food. Really a nice place. ;)

Ricardo, Coneja, Andrea, Andreas, Paola and Kari
The girls name sitting next to me is Andrea, so she is my tocaya, I guess who did not already figure out what that means, can use google translate or such... ;)
Well, after a really long time, last time was more then one year ago in Peru, someone is actually taking patience and time to talk to me in Spanish and trying to teach me new words... Sadly she cannot stay for too long, she has to get up at 5 am in the morning...

Everyone is doing poses and taking pics now and we start to dance between the tables... The crowd behind us will start to dance too... ;)

I was really dancing and jumping a lot. ;)

This time I got flowers... How nice can life be???

But I was not the only one. ;)

Then we head to Conejas place to feed the cats. She has 25, that is really a lot!

Last but not least, as usually when going out...

So one of my best days in Mexico has its end... Already extended for a bit... ;)
