Tulum is a very old town. In this city only the rich and powerful Mayas lived. It is protected by 3 thick stone walls to the north, west and south and the sea in the east.
What makes that place special is the really nice is the beach and its surrounding.
The Mayas of this region used to get their water out of cenotes, as theire are just underground rivers.
This beach is the first beach in the town and it is currently closed, because the turtles did lay their eggs.
The second beach in the city.
At the far south of the city.
The iguanas are very different to the ones I saw in Puerto Vallarta.
Time to go to the beach and have a swim.
Tania is always posing on pics. ;)
Afterwards we head to a village with "living Mayas", highly arguable.
The kids play music.
And they have all kinds of animals in cages.
So up to Coba, a city that once covered an area of 77 km².
At the entrance you see one of the bigger pyramids of this area.
This used to be a ball game stadium.
Then we have the option to either walk, rent a bike or bike driver to the biggest pyramid in Coba. As it is just a 20 minutes walk and we have 1 1/2 hours, we take the walk.
Me walking up the pyramid.
The view from the top.
With Andreas, a german who was on the same tour with us.
Back in Playa del Carmen we go for a drink. As I need to catch up tons of sleep, I go to sleep after a short time.
